Jerry Marshall Well-known and respected radio announcer and voice of Spartan Hockey Jerry Marshall passed away Saturday morning, June 21st. Jerry had suffered a massive stroke on October 25, 2007 and never was able to recover although for some months afterward it appeared that he was making small strides towards recovery. A downturn in the past couple of weeks ended peacefully at St. Lawrence's Hospice. Jerry was born in Jackson, MI, and began his radio career at WKHM. He moved to WILS-AM in Lansing and became one of the area's top voices, along with Eric O. Furseth and Bob Pearson. After leaving on-air work, Jerry worked in retail sales and became a real estate agent, all the while maintaining his fierce loyalty to MSU Hockey. He started the Ron Mason radio show and was the host throughout Ron's tenure. When Rick Comley was hired, the show continued with Jerry at the helm until this past fall when Scott Moore took over the hosting duties. Jerry was at the show just one week prior to his attack, enjoying the company of his many friends and associates. Those who knew him understood his friendship to be genuine and his loyalty unquestionable. He was a pillar within the local sports community and the "best" days of radio. He was the P. A. voice for MSU hockey and baseball. |
Thanks
for a great season, see next year.
